Working Mom And Stay-At-Home-Mom
I tend to call myself a stay-at-home mom even though I do own and a operate very successful company. I should tell you – all glory for my success is from God. I’m just a messenger. You see, I started a company over 10-years ago called Georgia’s Dream Nannies, Inc. long before I ever started the Mommy Decorates Blog. I can sincerely tell you that God gave me the unbelievable dream and truly led me every step of the way to start the company from scratch. Yes, from scratch!
My little secret..…I have to admit that I typically tell folks that I’m a stay-at-home mommy even though I’m not your typical stay-at-home mommy. I think that our society is changing the “look” of a typical role of a stay-at-home mommy since so many women now work from home and they intermix the two jobs.
I have to admit that I felt guilty for working and running a successful company. I’m not talking about the type of guilt that you feel for working and ignoring your children and home duties. I’m talking about feeling the guilt that other moms judged me and they were always assuming that I was too wrapped up in my own dreams and work. Yes, it’s probably true that some have made those assumptions, but I’m learning through my daily quiet times with the Lord that I need to quit assuming so much about what others are thinking about me and focus more on God and the task He has given to me.
You see, I think that God gives each one of us unique gifts and talents to use for His glory. I’m learning through the Bible that God doesn’t look at genders when He gives you a task, talents and a dream. For instance, think about Deborah in the Bible. She was a Judge and very powerful back in her day. There are also lots of other women mentioned in the Bible who ran a household and family while holding a powerful position in the community. Yes a powerful position! Think about that one for a minute! I’m not talking about women’s rights, feminism and liberalism here……
